The Society of Practitioners (SOP), whose members comprise the majority of the practicing medical faculty at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, is pleased to announce that it has retained Physicians for Responsible Negotiation (PRN) to advise and consult with the SOP Executive Committee concerning the development of model employment contracts with Columbia University. The SOP selected PRN because of its professionalism, its linkage to the federation of medicine, its relationship to the AMA, and its experience representing physicians nationwide. The SOP and PRN are committed to work together to continually improve physicians working conditions at the Medical Center so that physicians can facilitate quality patient care. They are also committed to negotiate changes in employment terms and working conditions necessary for retention of the highest quality physicians, researchers, and educators on the Columbia faculty.
